Meet Rich Baron
Rich Baron is a seasoned executive leader and Master Certified Intelligent Leadership Executive Coach with a dynamic and multifaceted career. His journey began in the 1980s as a studio musician in Nashville, Tennessee, where he collaborated with renowned recording artists and toured extensively across the U.S. and Canada. While his time on the road was enriching, Rich ultimately redirected his focus toward education and a career in manufacturing—a transition that ignited his passion for leadership development and operational excellence.
Diving into advanced manufacturing practices, including Lean and Six Sigma, Rich established himself in the medical device industry, where he held executive roles with full P&L responsibility for the Intermountain West region. His tenure was marked by remarkable achievements, including leading his organization to an unprecedented 100% customer retention rate from 2006 to 2019. Under his leadership, the company maintained an impressive 5.67 sigma performance level while supplying reusable surgical products for over 82% of all labor and delivery (L&D) and operating room (OR) procedures in the region. His organization was also recognized as the “Greenest Business in Utah” by Rocky Mountain Power and Utah Business Magazine.
Rich holds a dual bachelor's degree and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, as well as advanced medical device degrees from Purdue University. His academic background complements his extensive industry experience, equipping him with the knowledge and expertise to drive leadership transformation and operational success.
Today, as COO of John Mattone Global and Director of Global Coaching Projects, Rich specializes in cultural transformation, executive coaching, and leadership development. He has collaborated with numerous global organizations to build world-class cultures and cultivate high-performing leaders, empowering individuals at all levels—from emerging talent to top executives. Whether leading boardroom discussions, addressing large audiences, or working one-on-one with clients, Rich is known for his strategic insight and ability to drive meaningful change.
In 2021, he co-founded the Mainline Executive Coaching ACT podcast, dedicated to exploring contemporary leadership challenges and organizational culture. Since its inception, the podcast has built a global audience spanning over 90 countries and 1,000 cities, earning recognition as one of the top executive coaching podcasts worldwide by FeedSpot.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Rich is deeply passionate about family, the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, baseball, and music. He remains actively engaged in the music industry through his ownership of Soundwaves Studios, LLC, where he continues to record and produce music—blending his creative roots with his leadership expertise.
